Space Deadbeef is a shoot’em up that has one big thing going for it: A unique control scheme. Instead of sliding your finger across the screen to move the aircraft and firing is automatic, you drag an aim over the enemies to attack them. You are given a certain amount of bullets which you can spread across multiple enemies or just one enemy. You can also touch and hold on your own aircraft to load a super attack that releases an epic fireball killing everything in its path. The aircraft will also move up and down according to where you put your finger on the screen which makes for very interesting mechanics as you try to get the enemies to get within your sight without being in their line of fire for too long. I really enjoyed this mechanics.

That being said, there are some big downfalls to the game. The game has only a few waves of enemies until you get to the boss, and from there on you just keep repeating the very same level with the very same enemies over and over and over again… sigh :/

Ok, the enemies after each level are a little more agile and shoot at you a bit more, but still NOTHING changes (not even the background!)

This is a hard decision … but since it’s a free game, download it. Have your fun with it like I did and once you reached a saturation point, get rid of it (or just go back to infrequently). And if (by the time you read this) the game is no longer free don’t buy it!
